The sun shining through the mist and onto the Normanhurst Oval greeted us on
Saturday morning. In our last encounter with Normanhurst they beat us 2-1 at
North Ryde Oval. We won the toss and the boys played with the sun on their backs.
We seemed to spend most of the first half trying to score, with many corners and
throw ins. Finally, Ben ricochetted the ball into the goal, I think off Daniel T,
and we were ahead.
Cameron, I am sure he didn't mind, was having a quiet half in goals. The second
half Nathan played as goal keeper and ran out of the LHS of the box to stop the
Normanhurst player advance, great goal keeping! Ben was not satisfied with his
earlier goal and scored another excellent goal, by any standard!
Luke and Chris were consistent with out-running the attackers and getting rid of
the ball. Harry and Kyle were getting involved and playing the ball into the
midfield of the goals. Lewis was left-foot dribbling past the defence. Hayden's
slick foot work was very effective as always. Tim was hungry as ever and getting
involved. Daniel T and Mitch had a quiet game as far as goal scoring but kept the
defence working hard. Mana and Kevin rounded out the teams effective defence.
The final result was 2-0.
Well deserved player of the match was Ben Hesse and the trophy was presented by
Paul. I'd like to thank all the parents who come to support our team, you do make
a difference. A special thanks to Peter Rolls for running the line.
